At the link above you will find a fun and interactive game that consists of a frog eating letters. The students click on the frog's belly and the frog says a letter name. The students must then click on the corresponding letter to feed the hungry frog.

I can see myself using this interactive game with my students in the computer lab for individual practice with identifying letters as well as on our classroom smart board as a group activity to review letter names.

At the link above I found an extensive list of graphing questions that I could present to my students on a daily basis. The website itself is more of a teacher reference tool but I can see myself using these graphing questions as a check in activity on our classroom smart board. I would have students move their name into the corresponding box that answers the question for them in the morning and then later in the day we could look at the data gathered from our "question boxes" and turn that data into a variety of graphs; tally charts, bar graphs, picto graphs, etc. These graphs could also be created using the smart board.

The link above was found on the internet4classrooms website in the PowerPoint presentation section. When I saw the PowerPoint I immediately saw myself using it with my kindergarten students as another way for them to practice their letter identification and letter sound recognition.

I actually used it for the first time today and I am happy to say that the students responded very positively to it – they can’t wait until we play it again.

The way I use it in my classroom is by starting out on the home page, which consists of 26 alphabet cubes. I then say to the students, “I’m thinking of a letter that makes this sound ___.” All students are encouraged to think of the letter and one student is called on to touch the corresponding alphabet cube which opens up the slide for that letter. As class we then sing, “Bb says “B” “Bb says “B” every letter makes a sound Bb says “Bb” and Bb is for bell. To keep the game moving the student then double clicks on the HOME button and I continue with “I’m thinking of a letter that makes this sound …”

I use this website on a regular basis with my kindergarten students both in the computer lab for individual practice and on our classroom smart board for group instruction. This website is full of wonderful literacy activities including stories and interactive games. The material is primarily designed for first grade but is a useful tool for PK – 2nd grade.
This website is filled with a lot of great resources for preschool – grade 5. It has pre-made activities as well as things you can customize to meet your needs and the needs of your students. I use this website to create personalized handwriting sheets for my students. Most of the time I am creating name practice sheets but I have also used it to create additional letter practice sheets and sight word writing activities for my students.
This is a neat website that allows you to create a baby pool to share the joy of expecting with family and friends around the world.
My husband and I found this website recently and have used it to create our own baby pool to share with our family and friends. The website keeps track of their predictions about when they think our baby will be born, our baby’s gender, hair and eye color, length and weight, etc and totals everything in percentages. We have lots of fun checking our personal baby pool to see what others think and to read their messages to us. J

Assignment #8

I use this math game with my students as an interactive way to practice making numbers. I like this game because it shows students what a number looks like numerically as well as what a number looks like in terms of base ten blocks. Students are challenged to come up with the easiest way to get to the number that is displayed; counting by ones, tens, or one hundred. You can customize the game in terms of what size numbers you would like your students to practice by selecting the 1, 10 or 100 button on the side.
